Describe the bug
Installed the new version 1.22.0.2 and while opening an old shape file got a long error starting with "A debugging check in this application has failed." ....\src\msw\menuitem.cpp(613): asset ""Assert failure"" failed in wxMenuItem::Check(): CheckMenuItem() failed, item not in the menu?

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Open\ESRI Shape file
2. Click on USStates shape file

Expected behavior
Just to open an existing shape file.
