Hi everyone,
Dear GitHub Education Support Team,
I am writing to you with the utmost humility as a middle school student from Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China. I am deeply passionate about learning programming and was incredibly excited to apply for the GitHub Education Pack to support my learning journey.
Unfortunately, I have encountered repeated rejections when attempting to verify my student status, and I am feeling quite lost and disheartened. I previously contacted your support team and received guidance that proof of enrollment would be an acceptable form of verification since I do not have a transcript, student ID card, or school-provided email address at this stage of my education.
Following this advice, I diligently prepared and submitted a proof of enrollment document. This document is bilingual (Chinese and English), officially stamped by my school, and clearly includes all the requested information: my school's name, website, address, contact telephone number, and the date of the stamp. Despite my best efforts to comply with the instructions and provide the necessary verification, my application was still rejected.
The rejection message stated: "You must configure your browser and operating system to allow location access. You may not use a VPN. If you believe that our information about your school is incomplete or incorrect, then please select ‘My selected school has incorrect or incomplete information e.g. domains or campus location’ option when submitting a GitHub Education support ticket."
I want to sincerely assure you that I have not used a VPN during the verification process. I am perplexed by the location access issue.
Furthermore, I believe there might be an inaccuracy in the information GitHub has regarding my school. My school is "上海浦东新区民办更新学校". While GitHub currently lists it as "Shanghai Xinxin School," the official and correct English translation of our school name is "Transformation Academy of Shanghai." Could you please be so kind as to correct this information in your system? I believe this discrepancy might be contributing to the verification issues.
Finally, I have another question that is causing me some confusion. In order to take a photo for verification, I have tried using all the mobile phone devices I could borrow from my family. Regrettably, all of them only seem to allow me to use the front-facing camera for the verification process. I am unsure if this is the intended method, or if there is something I am misunderstanding. Could you possibly offer some guidance on this camera issue?
The GitHub Education Pack would be an invaluable resource for me as I embark on my programming studies. I would be immensely grateful if you could kindly reconsider my application, taking into account the information I have provided about the school name correction and the camera question. Any assistance you could offer would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you very much for your time, patience, and understanding. I eagerly await your response and hope for a positive resolution.
Sincerely,
Wei Du
