Hi, I think it is possible to upload the image from an image file. It is not necessary to take a picture with your phone camera or webcam. I tried that and got GitHub Education in this account. Please let me know if this helps. |

This is a known issue that multiple people keep running into. The camera module GitHub uses for document capture compresses the feed, and on many devices/browsers it picks a low What works right now:
If you still want to try the camera route:
Additional tips that help approval:
TL;DR — Don't fight the blurry camera. Upload a fee receipt under "Proof of enrollment" instead. That's the path of least resistance right now. |

Hey, I experienced something similar during the GitHub Education verification process. My camera worked perfectly in other apps, but the verification page still showed a blurry image and kept failing the capture. What helped me was switching to another browser, cleaning the camera lens, improving the lighting, and using the rear camera instead of the front one. I also noticed the image quality became much better after disabling any browser extensions that might interfere with camera access. In some cases, the issue seems to be related to the verification service itself rather than the actual camera quality. |

I faced a similar issue during verification where the camera preview became noticeably lower in quality compared to normal camera apps. A few things that may help:
It may also be worth checking whether the verification system is compressing the video feed too aggressively during upload, especially on slower networks. GitHub could improve the process by allowing a manual high-resolution image upload instead of relying entirely on the live camera stream. |

Hi everyone,
Hi everyone,
When I tried to complete my GitHub Education verification, I noticed that the camera feed becomes very blurry during the identity verification process. The image quality is so low that my ID details cannot be captured clearly, which I believe is causing my application to be rejected or delayed.
I have tested my camera in other apps, and it works fine with clear image quality, so this seems to be an issue specific to the verification process.
Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a known fix? Are there recommended settings, browsers, or devices that work best for GitHub Education verification to avoid the blur problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!
