I am newbie at coding pls be patient with me

I am having trouble submitting changes to my repository. I write git add on the terminal, then git commit -m "My First page."
Then it says Your branch is up to date with origin/main.
nothing to commit, working tree clean.

Please let me know how to commit changes to my repository
