Quarto preview interfering with positron theme changing

It looks like the Quarto auto preview interferes with the theme change command (cmd k + cmd t) or when using theme extensions such as Tokyo Night.

Has this issue been raised or discussed previously?

Can you say a bit more about how you are observing this? I am not able to reproduce that jumpy behavior in the Viewer pane. Here is what I did:

• Open an Quarto file
• Use "Quarto: Preview" to preview the document (at this point I see the rendered document in the Viewer pane)
• Use cmd+k cmd+t to bring up new themes
• Choose a theme to switch to

When I go through these steps, I don't see any jumpy re-rendering behavior in the Viewer pane.

I really don't know how to reproduce it completely because I can't pinpoint what is causing the issue (settings, extensions, ...).

However, I can reproduce the issue (on my machine) with a blank quarto project.

Ah, thank you for sharing that! I actually see a similar flicker if I do quarto preview, open in a regular browser, and then force a reload of some kind, for example by clicking "Home". I think it's pretty unlikely this is related to the Positron Viewer pane and more likely to be the Quarto preview behavior. Would you be up for opening a discussion for Quarto, and outline the flickering you see, both in Positron and a regular browser, when you are previewing?
