Caprine-ng require the official Messenger app, on a Phone!

Hi.
Many of us cannot use this.
It's asking me to do something on the Messenger app on your phone to continue, after logging in.

I dont have a smartphone, and I am not starting now.
There is no chance that I'm installing the official Facebook app!

If it makes a difference, I live in Norway. Norway is Not part of the EU, but we are a part of the EEA (European Economic Area).

Are you talking about the 2 factor authentication prompt FB uses that requires you approve it from a second source? If so, that is not specific to that app and can also be addressed by logging into the website from a PC. It may be possible to open the non-mobile version on a phone by spoofing a desktop.

This can sometimes be approved simply by being logged in somewhere else, anywhere else.

I don't even have internet on my phone, let alone any apps. I have never had internet on any phones, and I am not about to start now.

I don't use 2FA on my account.
Up untill this point I have always used Firefox on two separate computers to log into Facebook. I have my browsers configured to DELETE all cookies upon exit. This results in Facebook seeing the same browser as a new device every time I start the browser, which means that I have to login every time I start my browser.
This is intentional. I do this for security reasons, and at no point have I ever been asked to verify from another device in my 18 years on facebook.

That sounds a lot like something specific to your country and regulations around messenger more than the app. I can say not being in your location I don't encounter this and have normal 2FA prompts.

I'm not a developer but I believe this application is effectively just a portable browser wrapped view for the messenger desktop page in its own window. It may be user agent spoofing or screen resolution that's tripping it differently from Firefox? I can only speculate.

I do know that FB does not allow you to change some specific settings from the web page and ONLY if you install their application (like the dating second for example) so I wouldn't be surprised if they ironically hid some sinister setting in the messenger app.

The FB app has limited functionality in android emulators like bluestacks and I don't know if messenger full would work there, but, you could try?

I don't even allow it on my Linux desktop. I am one of those who actually care about licensing terms. I really do read them.
And since I am a Free Software/Open Source advocate, I cannot accept the terms for installing any official Facebook program, not even for testing.
