Addition or change
I have read the "Extension support overview #130" issue.
And maybe if a lot of the vieb user's are using Zotero a connector plugin would be usefull.
So the content from a webpage can be extracted and safed in Zotero as an entry.

If there are no other users which are interested in this request, trash this.

Based on available documentation, this seems to be possible for third-party programs to connect to. They suggest the following:

If you're unable to install an extension in your browser, you can save web pages or identifiers to your library from this page or with the magic wand button from your web library.

Alternatively, there seems to be an API of sorts which might be an option too.

Overall, this seems to be possible, but since I have never used Zotero I will not work on this feature personally, but I welcome PRs to implement a feature to connect to this. Since it will require an API key to be set before it will work, and could by default block connections without one set, even if for example a mapping like gZ is pressed to save an entry.
