Infinite loop in getPage, getAllPages with collections since 7.4

It seams the changes to notion client in 7.4 introduced an infinite loop that causes getPage and getAllPagesInSpace to get stuck for pages with databases, haven't narrowed down the root cause yet, also still trying to reproduce the issue on a new/other databases, will update this issue as my investigation continues.

If someone else has the same issue please share your findings.

Hi, I wanted to share that I'm encountering similar symptoms.

I'm currently using notion-client@7.3.0 in a Next.js + TypeScript + Turbopack environment.

When I try to call getPage() for a row inside a Notion DB to retrieve the recordMap, it enters what seems to be an infinite loop when running locally — whether I call it from an API route or an SSR component.

Interestingly, the same code works perfectly when deployed to Vercel — getPage() returns the expected recordMap without issues.

• When I downgraded it to version 6, the symptoms disappeared.

@EnterRyan That's interesting, not sure if it's the same root cause, because for me I had to downgrade from 7.4 to 7.3 to get things working again.

Also so far it seams the issue is not reproducible when using next dev but only happens in next build & start

If the issue you're seeing in 7.4 doesn't occur in a Node-based runtime environment (like Vercel), then I believe the root cause might still be related.

From what I understand, when running Next.js locally (next dev), the runtime defaults to Edge, not Node — which could explain the difference in behavior between local and production.

I only became aware of this runtime distinction while debugging this issue, so there's a chance I might be wrong about the exact cause

I tried to used this library 7.4, 7.3 none of them were worked. getPage never returns data, I downgraded to 6.16 then it finally works.

Both localhost and Vercel envs.

I was using notion-client@7.1.5 and react-notion-x@7.2.5, and everything worked perfectly. After updating all dependencies, even without changing these specific libraries, I encountered the same infinite loop problem with getPage().

Here’s what helped me resolve it:

1. Downgrade notion-client to version 6.16.0.
This fixed the issue and allowed my Notion page to work, but it caused breakage in other parts of my project.

2. Upgrade Node.js runtime to v22.
After upgrading Node.js from v20 to v22, I could use the latest notion-client and react-notion-x versions without the infinite fetching issue on localhost and Vercel.

Interesting, I upgraded node to v22 but still running next build gets stuck at Collecting page data ...

due to the below code

@transitive-bullshit is it possible to rollback the 7.4 changes of notion-client until we find a root cause and a guaranteed fix?

Hey everyone , long time lurker.. Been using react-notion-x with the appDir for awhile now.

The issue seems to be Ky .Was a wild guess because I always seem to have issues with it in other projects.

Anyways, replacing Ky with Got works a charm. I don't mind submitting pull-request if it will help.
