[Req]: Please improve sound SB16 support for old DOS 6.22 programs

What problem are you facing?

I created a "Windows 3.1" guest VM, my host is a Debian Trixie 13.2, the guest OS is MSDOS 6.22 with Windows 3.11.
The issue is that the sound provided by SoundBlaster 16 (SB16) virtualization does not work for old DOS programs while it works when in the Windows 3.11 GUI.
The old DOS program is "Space Ace" a famous old game, you can learn more here.

I wish that this game is supported so I can get rid of DosBox and have all VMs in VirtualBox. The sound in DosBox it works for the game.
The sound DOS driver installed in the guest VM was downloaded here.

How can we fix this?

Please, improve sound support for old DOS programs.

What alternatives or workarounds exist?

The only workaround I know it is to use the dedicated DOS emulator: DosBox.

What exactly does not work here? No audio audible at all, stuttering output?

No audio at all, the DOS program is silenced, but system's sound works when loading Windows 3.11 environment (That I don't use because I'm interested only in DOS programs).

Configuring audio in DOS can be done in a lot of ways and is highly dependent on the application / game being run. Are there any configuration options for "Space Ace"? Could be that some other IRQ or Address must be configured (or is expected) here.

In "Space Ace" it's allowed to switch the sound on/off only, no other options (IRQ/Address/Cards) are available. In DosBox emulator the sound works without any customization specific for the game.
Is it correct to install the Creative sound driver for the VirtualBox SB16 emulated card or the sound works in DOS and Windows 3.11 anyway (without Creative driver)? I've already tried to play with IRQ and addresses in the settings of the Creative driver but the sound works only for Windows 3.11 so I asked for an improvement.
