How to get accurate colors with vaapi

But I am not sure how to achieve this?

The command wf-recorder -c h264_vaapi -d /dev/dri/renderD128 -p color_range=2 still results in distorted colors for me.

What a coincidence, I'm having the exact same problem.

I used these filters with nvenc to get acceptably accurate colors:
-F "hue=h=-3:s=0.98, eq=gamma=0.98:contrast=0.99"
(along with some color options, which all seem to be just getting ignored)

But using any filters at all seems to break vaapi recording.

Ok i've looked deeper into this, to be able to use filters you need to use the -t option, it used to be supported in wf-recorder but it's not anymore. #33

The most crippling aspect for color accuracy in vaapi is that the pixel format is locked to nv12, you cannot use any other pixel format. Interestingly this doesn't seem to lead to any major issues when encoding vids for compression, but when recording for some reason it fucks up the colors. When using nvenc I was able to get like 95% accurate colors by using this configuration:

-p color_range=pc -p colorspace=bt709 -p color_primaries=bt709 -p color_trc=gamma22 -x bgra

But because of not being able to use -x bgra on vaapi it falls apart when using vaapi.
