SUMMARY

The motherduck extra is not commonly used but when it is, it should ideally be on a recent version of DuckDB. Since the duckdb extra is already being kept up to date, this PR makes motherduck depend on the existing duckdb dependency.

TESTING INSTRUCTIONS

no new functionality - I tested that Superset still comes up with docker compose

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Has associated issue:
  • Required feature flags:
  • Changes UI
  • Includes DB Migration (follow approval process in SIP-59)
    • Migration is atomic, supports rollback & is backwards-compatible
    • Confirm DB migration upgrade and downgrade tested
    • Runtime estimates and downtime expectations provided
  • Introduces new feature or API
  • Removes existing feature or API

CodeAnt-AI Description

Align motherduck extra to use the main DuckDB dependency

What Changed

  • Installing the "motherduck" extra now pulls the same DuckDB extras as the main duckdb extra instead of a separately pinned duckdb and duckdb-engine
  • MotherDuck will follow the official DuckDB version used by the project, removing the old hard pin to duckdb==0.10.2

Impact

✅ Consistent DuckDB versions when using the motherduck extra
✅ Fewer dependency conflicts during installation
✅ Easier maintenance and updates for MotherDuck users
