This is the OpenTelemetry Astronomy Shop, a microservice-based distributed system intended to illustrate the implementation of OpenTelemetry in a near real-world environment.
Motivation
The project is heavy on resources because it's intended to demonstrate all OTel functionality, added to which it runs some load generators. We might help the project maintainers have visibility on their resource consumption, perhaps potentially detect issues if there are big changes. For users it's good to see the impact of running it, so good to be aware that they should switch it off when done :).
Additional context
I first watched this Kubecon talk from Nancy Chauhan and Andrea Villela and talked with Andrea, who was interested in the Green Reviews project. Then the idea came up to include Open Telemetry in Green Reviews, and Andrea contacted me with the OTel demo community.
