iirc we are using yarn, that locks the dependencies. Try 'yarn install'

What version of node and npm are you using?
I recommend using node 6 and npm 3 or yarn.

If you have nvm installed, you can do:

nvm install 6
nvm use 6
npm install

Or with yarn, do the following:

brew install yarn
yarn install
