Error opening chat: not a valid path

I am seeing multiple dialogs that pop up every time I start my Jupyter Chat development environment:

If a chat cannot be found, it seems like we should just log a warning to the console at most. There's no need to inform the user in this case since there's nothing the user can do to restore the "missing" chat anyways. We may want to consider removing this check all together.

Not sure, but I think this can be reproduced by creating new chats, deleting them, then restarting JupyterLab.

That also happens for all file types - it is the fact that the JupyterLab workspace remembers what files you had open last time and then tries to reopen them again. But I agree that the logic could be improved. But it is probably upstream in JLab.

In this particular case, this error message is handled in jupyter-chat, but indeed this is related to the layout restorer.

I agree that it is useless to display it on start up, the user probably don't care if the restorer failed.
But I think it's useful to display something when an error occurs trying to open a file intentionally, though.

A simple fix could be to add an argument to the commands, like startup: boolean, and handle the error accordingly.
