Prep for publishing

There's a few tasks that need to be taken care of before we can publish to NPM:

• Update the public API of the package (if needed)
• Make sure publishing includes only the necessary sources and types
• Update inline method docs to ensure all public methods & properties are appropriately documented

I'm not going to publish a v1.0 until I've gotten feedback from webpacker that the API is sufficient for their use case.
