Audio indication of spelling errors

When editing text in multiple languages, it is sometimes very annoying to have reporting of spelling errors on, cause when you set the spellcheck to one of the languages all words which are in the other language are marked as misspelled. This slows down significtly the work process, which causes many people to completely ignore this feature. The equivalent for the sighted is a different text color or underline, which is a hundred times faster and doesn't interupt reading. The idea is to allow people to replace the "spelling error" announcement with an audio indication. This would look like indication of progress bar updates option, but with only one tone. An audio indication is also much closer to the sighted experiance.

Agreed, but this depends on speech being refactored so that audio can be played at specific points within the speech. I have long-term plans to do this, but it's anyone's guess as to when I'll find the time. It's also worth noting that the accuracy of the audio timing will depend on the synth. I don't think any synth will be 100% accurate, but some will be much worse than others.

How does the beep for capitals work then? Maybe this could be hijacked for this in some way?

Spelling characters is a special case. It sends every character as a separate chunk of speech, so it can wait for each one before sending the next. That won't work for continuous reading. It will also hiccup if you manage to get NVDA to read something else while it's spelling; the spelling will be interspersed with other text.
