network=VRS and network=VRM

In general transportation tagging has been shifting away from using the abbreviations and towards using the spelled out words in the network tag.

I would say it simply depends on how the company actually brands itself and how it's commonly referred to. Examples in France:

EDF is the main energy operator in France. Their whole identity is "EDF", not its full name, "Électricité de France".
On the other hand, Strasbourg Électricité Réseaux is the energy operator in the Strasbourg region. It's branded and commonly referred to as the full name, not "SER".

In this case, I agree with @bernwardhanssen, the companies are branded as VRS, VRM and VRR, not their full version (e.g. Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg). The full version can go into matchnames.

VRS also have a tram network, and VRM also have a train network. I guess these should be network=VRS and network=VRM too?
