Posit Workbench 2025.12.0-daily+370.pro1, “Apple Blossom” (789999ef)

Session details:

  • Snowflake or AWS session credentials when creating a Positron Pro session in Workbench

Describe the issue:

When using Snowflake Cortex (and speculatively, Amazon Bedrock) with autoconfigured credentials (Workbench managed auth passes session credentials through to Positron), tool calls are not made by the models.

When using Snowflake Cortex on Desktop with an API key, all is well.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Open Workbench
  2. Create a new session
  3. Select Positron Pro and log into Snowflake in the Session Credentials
  4. Start the positron session
  5. Snowflake auth passes through successfully
  6. Chatting with Assistant or Databot works, but no tools are passed and as such they can't be called

Expected or desired behavior:

Tools should be passed and used by the model.

Were there any error messages in the UI, Output panel, or Developer Tools console?

Chat log and diagnostics will show that the tools are not being passed
