Description
A variation on #5206 since that's been closed (and linked to #6132).
While I appreciate (and make use of) the automatic data explorer view for CSV and other file types (I recently learnt it previews parquet files!), I quite often opening a CSV file to make tweaks and edits.
It would be very useful to add to the context menu (right-mouse button) in the file explorer pane an 'open in plain text' option for CSV files. It is not intuitive that the 'open with…' option brings up a selection between text editor and data explorer, and I regularly forget that this is what happens if you click 'open with…'. Instead the 'open with…' evokes (to me) the option in the Mac OS Finder to open the file in an external application and means that my default interpretation of the 'open with…' in the Positron context menu is an option to open the file in an external application which I don't want to do.
The UI amend in #6132 to add an option in the data explorer to open in plain text mode is useful but it creates extra ux workflow as it's an additional click to get to the plain text and the plain text view is then spawned as an additional tab in the editor pane, meaning there are then two separate tabs to close.
Very much an enhancement request to fix a minor frustration, so not urgent.
